Hypatia Comments: Hoping to Got Some Dialogs Going...
Well... America has this fixation on polarized power struggles. There is another way though. Wisdom <- Please consider the contrast between American and other countries expressions of favorite sayings in this sharing of International Wisdom. Then, if you've a mind to discuss this more philosophically, please get back to me?
Thanks, Hypatia Theon
The wife, raised in zenshu now a member of nichirenshu, had childhood dreams to become a veterinarian and travel to Africa, but after one ronin year following shikenjigoku failure to enter a veterinaian school in Hokkaido, compromised her dream to become a pharmacologist at a Fukuoka University, where she became notorious for losing her virginity at the age of 22 as forfeit in an epic battle martial arts battle upon which her own professors wagered bets in excess of 1,000 USD with Chen (Nicknamed after the Chinese martial artist, whom he slightly resembled.) who also became her first lover afterwards. (He stares from some old photo albums looking rather harassed as he often complained about being bitten during love play... She still does that sometimes. Ouch!) Satchi no longer practices those arts studied in childhood: Kendo, Nagainata, Yari, Karate, and later after she and her friend Matsuo met the Dragon in the Mountain, a mysterious Chinese who lived in the forests between Shimabara and Fugen Dake, she learned some Chinese art like Tai Kuan Do until Matsuo died hanggliding on the first day of the New Year when he crashed down in a mountain river and no one could reach him to unfasten his harness before he drowned. Anyway, I was so impressed by the inner beauty of that samurai spirit that led her to strap on my paraglider and try to fly from the highest peak in Nagasaki for what would have been a suicide flight if I hadn't collapsed the risers before she could actually take off. Ah, memories. *SMILE* Hope we can make a few, too.
Love, Hypatia Theon (At home in "The One" where East meets West)

Hypatia- Sorry for the delayed response. i'm glad you took the time to check out the older essays.
I looked at the site you suggested, but I'm not sure that I can equate all colloquial sayings as wisdom, at least not entirely.
Sure, there are plenty of nuggets of good advice, but there are just as many references to personal behavior and social taboos wrapped up inside.
Yes, culturally, we have been trained to see things in polar opposite terms. Even when expanding our thoughts beyond those ingrained boundaries, it is still a part of us. There are other ways, but America must learn to be brave enough to try them.
Two native American sayings seems appropriate to this discussion (in spite of my earlier protestations):
There is nothing so strong as gentleness. Nothing so gentle as real strength.
and
To give dignity to a man is above all things.
Together, they speak a type of wisdom too, and advocate for a kind of cooperative, yet steady resolve for avoiding conflict.
Ja das ist fantastish!
